About the Dare To LeadTM Program

Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare To Lead™ is an empirically based courage-building program designed to be facilitated by organizational development professionals.

Dr. Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation – Dr. Brown Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and most recently completed a seven-year study on courageous leadership. She is the author of five #1 New York Times bestsellers: The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, Braving the Wilderness, and Dare to Lead, which also debuted at #1 on The Wall Street Journal and Publisher’s Weekly lists.

The most significant finding from Dr. Brown’s latest research is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable. The Dare To Lead™ program focuses on developing these courage-building skills through workshops, trainings, and coaching to help individuals, teams, and organizations move from armored leadership to daring leadership.

Individuals who successfully complete the full 24-hour Dare To Lead™ program facilitated by Laura Cooke will receive a certificate of completion and are allowed to put a “Dare To Lead Trained” badge on their LinkedIn account.

Further information is available at daretolead.brenebrown.com.

Dare To LeadTM Program: Dates Below

In this highly interactive workshop, we’ll bring the research of Dr. Brené Brown to the team through videos, hands on exercises and engaging conversation.

By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Affirm that the information learned will change how they show up at work
  • Recognize vulnerability as the foundational skillset of courage
  • Identify how self-awareness plays a critical role in daring leadership
  • Describe how armor (rather than fear) is the greatest obstacle to daring leadership
  • List the four measurable, observable and teachable skillsets that make up courage (rumbling with vulnerability, living into our values, BRAVING trust and learning to rise)
  • Link vulnerability as the birthplace of the many behaviors that define daring leadership (such as creativity, accountability and having difficult conversations)
  • Embrace daring leadership and the requirement for having difficult conversations, showing up and giving and receiving feedback

Skillset #1: Rumbling with Vulnerability

Skillset #2: Living Into our Values

Skillset #3: BRAVING Trust

Skillset #4: Learning to Rise
