This month, I had the pleasure of speaking with Leadership Strategist Cindy Gardner about values.
Have you taken the time to identify your top 2-3 values? It can really make a difference when you know what yours are.
I’ve used my values to make tough decisions, navigate my career and to help identify what really is important to me.
My top two values are Courage and Contribution. I once worked at an organization that valued productivity and results over collaboration and that was really tough for me. I realized their values did not align with mine.
I’ve also had my value of integrity challenged where I’ve had to do some really hard things to stand in what I thought was right. This includes standing up for others, even when it hurt my career. Leaving jobs I loved because I knew I wouldn’t be able to make a difference based on the leadership that was in place. Trying new things and failing A LOT. Working hard to give back and make a difference in the world.
In this episode, Cindy gives her own example of how her values changed her career path and what leaders can do to leverage their values and the values of their team.
Enjoy and please let us know how your values show up for you?
